Qownnotes sync nextcloud12/5/2023 For anything more complex or if you are going to be doing a lot more note taking on a keyboard, then Joplin or Qownotes. In closing, if you want quick notes on the go, the Notes app is the best option since it also integrates well with NC. However the Notes app is the better of the two due to being more stable. The Dev is working on an Android app, albeit that is also early in development but for the utter basics, it works. It is early in development with fewer options but it is far more stable than Carnet. But for now, I do not use it at all.Īlso used NC Quicknotes. It did not work.Īlso, I found that some of the icon formats would mess up and on top of that, it corrupted some of my notes. It was the first app I used, since I thought I would be able to import my GKeep notes. I have also used Carnet and it is way too buggy for everyday use, in my opinion. Qownnotes is not bad, and would be closer to Joplin than NC Notes in usability and flexibility. Why? It is being deprecated for Joplin server. ![]() Oh, one last thing, Joplin for Nextcloud is no longer maintained. I have had limited success copying photos on the web into my notes, albeit text works fine. Want to extend its use? Sure, there is an API for it. Want to run it in CLI? No prob, there is an app for that. It just feels like a more mature product. I also keep it on my phone for longer, more complex notes and it can encrypt them, if they are that important. Joplin is slower but you can do a lot more with your notes. It has the advantage of you being able to work on them on the go and on any PC as long as you have internet access. It's good for links, quick thoughts/notes, maybe the odd list. The app, at as stands right now, is not made for big or complex files. You can copy/paste on any app, jump in the Notes app, create the note/add to existing notes, right from the Android share menu, go in, paste, categorize it, and leave in seconds. This is awesome but also very limiting. I like the Notes app, if mostly due to its simplicity, especially on mobile. I am an avid user of notes and have tried essentially all apps in NC, if only because of curiosity. See for example this Nextcloud press release of Rocket.chat and Nextcloud collaboration. As others have said, they aren't all that comparable. That is, you can share a public link to a Markdown file and the recipient will see a professional looking document right away!
